'Total Place'
Better services with less resources
With the Coalition Government Spending Review well under way, there are lots of streams of thinking emerging around how we protect and enhance local services and at the same time strengthen “community fabric”. Part of this debate surrounds the “Total Place” agenda – and to this end we put together some thoughtpieces just before the election to provide a starting point for conversation:
At the same time the concept of “social value” is reaching parts of the public sector that previously had not engaged fully in areas of added value through a rounded concept of well being – see for example the final Evaluation Report conducted following the conclusion of the Pan-Regional Social Value Commissioning Project. Coupled with cross party support for community empowerment, but often with less clue about meaningfully implementing resources to strengthen neighbourhoods, “Big Society” might be extended to cover a wide alliance against centralisation at all levels of the public sector domain.
We are clarifying what our offer into this pot might be, in terms of training, support, advice and facilitation. All this with the clarity and vision we seek to bring to the world of transforming communities.
